It's so hard to light candles with 90 degree weather in DC but I did go shopping for them already... nothing better than the sweet smell of spice candles with the windows open and the fresh air blowing in.

old fashion dessert

I just love this old fashion dessert.  The diner looks so quaint and comfortable, a great place to catch up with an old friend and reminisce about good times.  Something about the picture makes me happy...

Besides the apples, pumpkins, fresh air, I just LOVE the colors of fall.  Mother nature certainly got it right with this color palette.  Time to change out flower arrangements and couch pillows and blankets.  Only disappointment is today and the rest of this week it's going to be 90+ degrees.

update on an old post...

From the NY Times I originally posted about a small cottage in the woods and a few amazing pictures (August 23, 2010 post). Well, since then I have stumbled across the blog of the owner and you should check it out.  MyShabbyStreamsideCottage has more pictures and you will fall in love with it all over again.  She was also featured on the Nate Berkus show.

I was searching this weekend to figure out creative ways to organize all my books and photo albums etc on the book shelves so they don't look so mismatched and this is what I found...white covers!  And since my new/old obsession is with the color white it works perfectly. Not sure I'll spend the time to actually cover all my books and label them, though.
